3 Easy DIY Fertilizers You Can Do At Home

What is the importance of Fertilizer? 

Just as humans need essential minerals and nutrients for strong, healthy growth, so do your plant babies. Fertilizers are food for plants such as vermicast. Fertilizers replace the nutrients that crops remove from the soil. It also provides nutrients not available in the soil, Replace nutrients removed at harvest and Balance nutrients for better product quality.

What is organic fertilizer? 

Organic fertilizer is usually made from plant or animal waste, even your kitchen scraps at home!

Because of the organic matter present in organic fertilizer, soil structure is improved and as a result the soil’s ability to hold onto water and nutrients increases.

They can be your kitchen scraps, vegetable scraps or even your used paper at home.

The process of decomposition requires no chemical intervention


3 Easy DIY Fertilizers You Can Do At Home

DIY Compost: 

  1. Mix in a container of your kitchen scraps, dried leaves, used papers, cardboard and old soil
  2. Put it in a container or a shaded area (if you have a garden)
  3. Wait for at-least 3-6 months or until your compost starts to turn into soil like color and texture before using. 

Banana peel Tea: Provides potassium to your plants

  1. Mix at least 8-10 banana peels, 2 liter of water, 2tbsp of brown sugar
  2. Put in a container
  3. Don’t close lid it might pop!
  4. Wait for about 24 hours before using it

Egg shells: Provides calcium for the plants 

Used coffee ground: Provides nitrogen for plants 

  1. Clean and crush eggshells into smaller pieces while dry out USED coffee grounds. 
  2. Combine the Egg shells and used coffee grounds 
  3. Pour at the top soil of the plant or mix with soil. 

* best if you add a little vermicast together with this mixture
